Education Pay Calculators estimates take-home pay for staff on the UK higher education national pay spine. It accounts for USS and SAUL pension schemes, Pensions+ salary sacrifice, London weighting, income tax (including personal allowance taper), National Insurance, and student loan repayments.

The site also provides a UK teacher pay calculator covering STPCD Main, Upper, Leading Practitioner and Leadership ranges with TPS pension, TLR and SEN allowances.

## Calculation order

1. Gross pay = spine salary × FTE + London allowance + optional additions
2. Employee pension deducted (USS 6.1% or SAUL 6.0%)
3. Pensions+ reduces the NI baseline; both methods reduce the tax baseline
4. Income tax with personal allowance taper above £100,000
5. National Insurance at current thresholds
6. Student loan repayments on gross earnings above plan thresholds
