Education Pay Calculators estimates take-home pay for staff on the UK higher education national pay spine. It accounts for USS and SAUL pension schemes, Pensions+ salary sacrifice, London weighting, income tax (including personal allowance taper), National Insurance, and student loan repayments.

Calculation order
- Gross pay = spine salary × FTE + London allowance + optional additions
- Employee pension deducted (USS 6.1% or SAUL 6.0%)
- Pensions+ reduces the NI baseline; both methods reduce the tax baseline
- Income tax with personal allowance taper above £100,000
- National Insurance at current thresholds
- Student loan repayments on gross earnings above plan thresholds
